That makes them the right ball for indoor throwing, for target games, and for any session where a ball skittering across the floor would be a hazard or would simply be lost. The solid versions from 200 g up to 1 kg are the athletics balls proper. They have the density to fly straight and to teach a real throwing action, and at 75 mm they sit in one hand without needing a wide span. The 1.1 kg version at 105 mm is the heaviest, sized closer to a shot and used where a throw needs loading up.
