The swing ball is thrown differently from anything else in the range. You hold the leather loop, swing the ball in a wide arc around your head to build speed, and let go. It is the classic German Schleuderball throw, and it is also a very direct way to train rotation, grip and shoulder strength. Because the loop does the holding, the throw does not depend on gripping a ball at all. That makes it workable for people with limited hand function or reduced grip strength, and it makes the release point something you can feel rather than something you have to see. The ball is made of thick rubber that is not sensitive to moisture, so it can be used outdoors on wet grass without soaking up water and gaining weight.
