Goalball is played entirely by ear. Every player wears an opaque mask, so the ball has to tell them where it is, and that is exactly what this one does. Steel bells are sealed inside the core and eight holes are moulded through the rubber shell, so the sound carries clearly whether the ball is rolling slowly along the floor or thrown hard at the goal line. The shell is natural rubber, hand finished, with a deep pebbled surface and moulded seams that run out from the central WV medallion. That texture is not decoration: it gives a reliable grip for the throw and lets a defender read the ball with their hands the moment it arrives. The rubber stays dimensionally stable over long periods of storage and takes the repeated impact of blocking without going soft. Three weights cover the whole squad. The 900 g junior ball suits youth and many women’s teams and is the gentlest introduction to the sport. The 1250 g ball is the official match weight at 25 cm across. The 2000 g training ball is deliberately heavy: throwing it in practice builds the shoulder and makes the match ball feel quick when you go back to it.
