The IO is one of the lightest white long canes made: a carbon-fibre, three-part folding cane with an ergonomic curved handle and a patented shock-absorbing joint. The IO is whitecane's flagship long cane, engineered around a single idea: a cane so light and so kind to the body that you can travel all day without your wrist, elbow or shoulder tiring. The shaft and handle are made from carbon fibre, which is stiff, sensitive to touch and extremely light. The handle is not a straight tube but an ergonomically curved grip that follows the natural line of the hand, offering several hold positions and a thumb recess for the pendulum grip used on stairs. IO folds into three parts quietly and in a controlled way, even in a crowded train, and two built-in magnets hold the folded cane neatly together. Between the tube segments sits the patented IO joint, which yields in a controlled manner in every direction when the cane meets an obstacle, protecting both the cane from damage and the user from the jolt. The shaft carries a reflective film for night visibility and a neon-yellow film for daylight and twilight. A standard M8 thread at the tip takes the two GEO tall rolling tips it ships with (one dur, one moll) as well as any common rolling tip.
