Product Information

Taking a temperature is one of those moments where being unable to read a display is genuinely a problem, because the number decides what happens next: whether you call a doctor, whether a child goes to school, whether you sit tight. The TF-1 says the reading aloud through the IKONN Controller or the myIKONN app, and the app shows it as huge black figures on a bright yellow field for anyone with useful residual sight. The thermometer has three ways of measuring. Held against the forehead it takes a reading in about one second. Pull the cap off the tip and it becomes an ear thermometer. Hold the mode button for three seconds while it is switched off and it enters object mode, which reads surfaces up to 100 Celsius, so it can check a baby bottle, bathwater or a plate coming out of the microwave. On top of the speech there is a coloured band that lights up under the rim of the probe: green for a normal reading, amber for raised and red for high. That is a second, independent channel for the same information, useful for a partner or carer across the room and useful to a user with light perception. Resolution is 0.1 Celsius, and the display can be switched between Celsius and Fahrenheit. There are two buttons only, SCAN in the middle of the wand and a mode button marked M with a speaker symbol that also mutes the beep. Body is 160 mm long and 66 g, and it runs on two AAA batteries. This is a consumer thermometer and not a substitute for medical advice.
